Roger : Hi, Tom. You wanted to see me?
Tom : That's right, Roger. As you know, the company has been faring poorly lately.
Roger : Yes, I've heard. It's a shame.
Tom : As a result, there will be some cutbacks.
Roger : Is that really necessary?
Tom : Unfortunetely, yes. I'm afraid we're letting you go, Roger. The good news is that we're offering you a generous severance package.
Roger : Isn't there another way? I'm willing to take a pay cut.
